Vilamoura is an ambitious purpose-built resort on the central Algarve coast and is one of Europe's largest privately developed tourist havens, offering holidaymakers every form of sport, entertainment and amenity imaginable. The resort is built around a magnificent 1000-berth marina and is lined by a long, sandy beach, overlooked by quality hotels, self-catering apartments, numerous restaurants and shops. From fine dining to fast food, Vilamoura has it all in dozens of restaurants, coffee bars, ice cream parlours and cafes scattered throughout the resort. 

Night time is fun time in Vilamoura, where bars, discos and live entertainment venues abound. Everything from traditional Portuguese Fado to karaoke is there to be enjoyed. Vilamoura's international Casino offers nightly dinner shows in addition to gambling tables, slot machines and bingo rooms. 

It is virtually impossible not to be active in Vilamoura, with so many tempting pursuits on offer. There are six 18-hole championship golf courses (international tournaments are often hosted here), lawn bowling club, tennis centre and riding school. Watersports and big game fishing are also very popular. Sightseeing excursions are also available to nearby Loule with its castle and 13th-century church.

Faro airport is a 30 min drive. A taxi will cost you no more than 30 euro's (£20).Car hire is not essential for this apartment. If you do decide to hire a car and don't mind the two hour drive, Sevillia airport in Spain is a good alternative.
